I usually use
this page to focus the spotlight on someone I want to
make fun of, but as we
head into the holiday season, I'd like to use it for
something else. I'd like to take a moment
to remember those who died on our roads and highways this
past year. I'd like all of us, as
we preoccupy ourselves with holiday shopping and travel
plans, to take a moment to think of
those who won't be going home for
Christmas. Let's also remember the families
they've left
behind; the families for whom Christmas will never again
be the same. Below are the Georgia
accident and fatality statistics for 1997 (1998 stats are
not available yet). The numbers are
broken down by county, with totals at the
bottom. Each number represents a life ended or
forever changed. I'd like to sincerely wish
everyone joy and happiness for the holidays.
