February 1999

Mmm. . .what's that smell?  Ah, it's the refreshing smell of burning motor oil
coming in through my vents, courtesy of the truck in the far right lane!  Don't you
just love that fragrance?  I mean, forget those little pine tree air fresheners, the
smell of burning oil beats pine tree any day.  Not only does it smell great, but it
has the uncanny ability to overpower all the other smells in your car, especially
that irritating "fresh air" smell, and sometimes it'll get in your clothes as well, so
that you can enjoy it throughout your day, even when you're not in your car!  Yes,
if they made little "burning oil" air fresheners, you can bet I'd have one hanging
from my rear view mirror.  Mind you, nothing beats the real thing.  For instance,
an air freshener would be no substitute for the visual effect of being blinded and
unable to see anything that one would get from driving behind this truck.  Indeed,
I was amazed that no one was driving behind this truck, as the picture shows.
Talk about a wasted opportunity!
