KEEP
MOVING. Two simple words. So
straightforward, yet so confusing for
some. Take the guy above, for instance; he
stopped dead in his tracks and
held up traffic, in spite of the sign over to the side
that says, in plain simple
English: KEEP MOVING, as in DON'T STOP. The
sign is there because a
brand new lane actually begins with this turn, thereby
making it unecessary
for cars turning right to stop for traffic coming from
the left. It's really no big
deal; it has become so common place to see people stopped
next to KEEP
MOVING signs that it usually doesn't bother me any
more (I estimate about
2 out of every 5 stop). But still, I had to
say something. After all, these signs
seem more effective at bringing cars to a halt than Stop
signs! Maybe they
should switch them! Better yet, attach KEEP
MOVING signs to the control
arms at railway crossings! We could virtually
eliminate the problem of people
trying to beat trains! Think of it as traffic
control by reverse psychology!
